Procurement Engineer

Job purpose

To support procurement operations by processing purchase requisitions, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services in line with business requirements. The role focuses on ERP data accuracy, supplier communication, and compliance with approved purchasing procedures to maintain smooth supply chain operations.

Key accountability areas

Procurement execution
Prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in the ERP system (SAP preferred).
Verify order details including specifications, quantities, and delivery timelines.
Ensure procurement activities follow established procedures and approval workflows.

Supplier coordination
Liaise with suppliers to confirm purchase order acceptance and delivery schedules.
Follow up on pending deliveries to ensure on-time arrival of goods.
Escalate unresolved supplier issues to the senior engineer or section manager.

Data and cost tracking
Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier data in ERP systems.
Assist in collecting pricing information for cost comparisons.

Cross-functional support
Coordinate with warehouse, production, and quality teams to ensure materials meet operational requirements.
Communicate procurement updates to relevant stakeholders.

Compliance and documentation
Maintain proper documentation for all procurement transactions.
Adhere to company procurement policies and contractual requirements.

Process support
Assist in implementing approved improvements to procurement processes.
Provide feedback on supplier performance to aid in evaluation and development.

Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.

Academic qualification

Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
