JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Job overview
An exciting new chapter is beginning at The English School, Kuwait—a school built on over 70 years of tradition, excellence & success. As the oldest British school in the Middle East and the only not-for-profit school in Kuwait, we are seeking an inspiring and committed music teacher to join our friendly, talented, and successful school.
This is a full-time position and presents an outstanding opportunity to make an immediate impact by shaping the physical development, teamwork skills, and overall wellbeing of all pupils.
With our continued focus on providing a broad, challenging, and varied curriculum that closely follows the National Curriculum for England, this role presents a unique opportunity for a passionate and skilled educator to inspire health and fitness across a diverse and motivated student body at every key stage.
We are looking for someone who has a proven record of outstanding teaching and learning and will spark curiosity, challenge students to achieve their best, and foster a culture of respect and creativity in the classroom. The successful candidate will bring excellent subject knowledge and the ability to support and motivate pupils of all abilities.
The successful applicant will also be expected to:
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to create a tailored learning environment.
- Actively uphold and promote the school's core values: respect, integrity, confidence, positivity, and empathy.
- Show a personal commitment to safeguarding and pupils' overall wellbeing, complying with all safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Always set high expectations to inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils.
- Run, in accordance with the school’s annual program of extra-curricular activities, at least two out of three blocks of one-hour activities for pupils.
- Take personal responsibility for evaluating and reflecting upon your methods of teaching in order to continually develop and improve your practice.
We invite you to review our applicant information pack for a full overview of our school and the role. The successful applicant will join our team for the start of the 2026/2027 academic year.
Important note for female applicants: Currently, women are not permitted to sponsor dependents in Kuwait. This means you would not be able to sponsor a husband or children for residency in Kuwait. Conversely, a husband could explore employment opportunities in Kuwait, and if successful, he would be able to obtain his own residency and then sponsor children. We understand this may be a significant consideration, so we wish to be fully transparent at the point of application.
The English School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. As per our safer recruitment policy, applicants must be prepared to undergo stringent child protection screening including, but not limited to, checks with past employers and criminal records checks.
