Role overview:

The cable engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design review, installation, and testing of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable systems ranging from 66 kV to 400 kV. This role ensures technical compliance, quality assurance, and effective coordination across substation and overhead line (OHL) interfaces.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review engineering designs and supervise the installation of HV/EHV cable systems (66u2013400 kV), ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.
  • Witness and validate cable testing procedures including very low frequency (VLF), tan delta, and partial discharge (PD) tests.
  • Coordinate with substation and overhead line (OHL) teams to ensure proper interface alignment and execution.
  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with technical requirements and quality benchmarks.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of cable-related issues during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Review cable routing, trenching, jointing, and termination methodologies for technical accuracy and constructability.

    • Requirements:

  • Bacheloru2019s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in HV cable projects, including installation and testing.
  • Proven expertise in XLPE cable systems, including jointing, termination, and testing procedures.
  • Strong understanding of international standards and testing protocols related to HV/EHV cable systems.
  • Excellent coordination, documentation, and communication skills.
