Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented planning engineer, seconded to our client from the government sector in Doha, Qatar.
We are seeking a seasoned planner with a strong engineering background and extensive experience in various types of projects (high rise buildings, governmental, water stations, main and secondary piping networks, infrastructure utilities etc.). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of delay analysis and claims. The role focuses on evaluating project timelines, analyzing delays, and supporting time-related claims. Experience with Kahramaa projects is considered a valuable asset.
We envisage success in this role to include:
- Reviewing and analyzing project schedules submitted by contractors and consultants.
- Reviewing and assessing cost and time claims submitted by contractors, consultants, and PMC, and preparing the required analysis.
- Conducting detailed delay analyses, including:
- Evaluating extensions of time (EOT).
- Assessing concurrent delays.
- Analyzing impacts on project milestones and deliverables. - Reviewing schedule updates submitted by contractors and recommending corrective actions where required.
- Supporting the preparation and defense of time-related claims and dispute resolutions.
- Preparing variation order documents (application forms, VO forms, revised BOQs, revised programs, and supporting documentation).
- Collaborating with project teams to assess progress and identify potential risks or delays.
- Providing expert input on planning and scheduling matters during project reviews, meetings, and presentations.
- Preparing the department's business plan and monthly performance reviews.
- Preparing regular and ad-hoc reports (e.g., monthly reports, critical project reports, etc.) and presentations required by the Water Projects Department.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project control standards.
- Maintaining documentation and records related to delay events and schedule impacts.
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 10 years work experience in project cost and planning and delay analysis partnered with a bachelor degree in engineering (civil engineering preferred).
Additional requirements:
- Arabic speaker (mandatory).
- Proven experience across various project types.
- Familiarity with Kahramaa standards and procedures is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of delay analysis methodologies and claim review and preparation.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 and other planning tools (for review purposes).
