JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer with strong Django and AWS expertise to join OneReg’s growing engineering team in Dubai. This role is part of our expansion into the region, supporting customers locally and internationally.
As a senior member of our engineering team, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining OneReg’s core software platform - ensuring system reliability, performance, and continuous improvement. The position involves close collaboration with colleagues in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, and occasional customer interaction within the Middle East region.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical experience in Python/Django, strong AWS infrastructure knowledge, and a proven ability to troubleshoot and deliver in production environments. Experience in aviation compliance or other safety-critical systems will be regarded as a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend systems using Django and Python.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure and application issues to ensure system stability and uptime.
• Implement hot fixes and production updates in collaboration with the Implementation team.
• Collaborate with local and remote engineering teams on new features, infrastructure, and system improvements.
• Manage and optimise AWS environments - primarily ECS, RDS, and Docker.
• Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support operational readiness and assist customers in the region when needed.
Requirements:
• 4+ years of professional software development experience.• Proven commercial expertise in Python and Django, ideally in SaaS environments.
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, RDS, EC2, Lambda, S3, etc.).
• Proficiency with containerisation technologies, particularly Docker.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver reliable fixes under pressure.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows (Git, automated testing, code review).
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with distributed teams.
• Based in Dubai.
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in aviation, aviation compliance, or other critical systems environments.
• Experience in building, maintaining, or scaling SaaS platforms.
• Familiarity with secure, high-availability system design.
• Exposure to infrastructure automation or performance tuning for large-scale systems.
