Overview:
The communications manager, Marine Services, will manage the development, execution, and measurement of communications by the company's business. Reporting to the director, Marine Services communications, the role is part of the specialist team that supports the growth of the company’s businesses by delivering strategic and tactical communications that drive customer preference and stimulate demand. The assets and capabilities of Marine Services, alongside those of Ports & Terminals and Logistics, offer the global ‘toolbox’ of services which enable the overall company's value proposition of end-to-end logistics.
Main accountabilities:
- Implement and deliver communications strategies that reflect business objectives and growth priorities at global and regional levels including the tailoring of communications to the needs of customers, employees, and other stakeholders.
- Act as a communications advisor to stakeholders within Marine Services businesses.
- Drive communications activities that deliver business impact among identified customer segments.
- Manage the inputs of other group communications centres of excellence and external agencies in developing and delivering effective, cost-efficient, and measurable implementations of these strategies.
- Manage and drive a content calendar and activation for website (internal and external), social media, and quarterly newsletters.
- Ensure reports are consistently delivered on time.
- Ensure that all business communications activities are aligned with the global brand purpose and the overall ‘One DP World’ positioning.
Other accountabilities:
- Provide strategic and tactical communications advice to stakeholders.
- Lead scheduled, regular meetings with stakeholders and collaborators to ensure alignment and visibility of developments in the business.
- Develop deep sector knowledge, audience insight, and understanding of services and products.
- Manage external agency and vendor teams.
- Develop narrative and key messages relating to the strategy, driving the creation of high-quality, accurate content.
- Support maritime industry event participation and ensure its cohesion with the global events plan.
- Uphold clear project management processes and ensure a high quality of outputs.
- Maintain an actionable ‘dashboard’ of metrics; monitor and report delivery against well-defined objectives and KPIs.
- Collaborate effectively with group communications centres of excellence to ensure effective channel strategy, and with regional communications teams to drive reach and impact.
- Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times, promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s principles, values, and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s code of conduct and ethics.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- +/- 8 years communications, marketing, or related experience ideally in a global organisation.
- Experience in managing strategic integrated communication programmes, meeting expectations and deadlines within budgetary guidelines.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Maritime sector experience a plus.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- A confident communicator and presenter who can influence and convince.
- Knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media and social media.
- Solid understanding of current affairs and awareness of global economic and geopolitical context.
- Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach.
- Self-starter who can prioritise multiple projects, take the initiative, and is driven to achieve results in a dynamic environment.
